Atlantic Master Logger Code of Ethics

Commitment and Responsibilities of Atlantic Master Loggers:

  • Acquire, keep current and use specialized knowledge and skills in the business of harvesting, and use best management practices at all times when undertaking
         harvest related activities.
  • Maintain high standards of conduct and daily work, and strive to raise the standards of practice.
  • Work in a spirit of integrity, honour, fairness, good faith and courtesy.
  • Act in a conscientious, diligent and efficient manner.
  • Uphold professional principles and the just rights of others against the demands of employment, including the rewarding of fair wages for work performed.
  • Undertake only work as they are competent to perform by virtue of their training and experience except when under supervision.
  • Consult and cooperate with specialists on matters beyond their own competence.
  • Have proper regard in all their work for the safety, health and welfare of the public and their employees.
  • Establish with the customer fair and reasonable fees which correspond to the services to be rendered.
  • Engage in no activity likely to result in unfavourable reflection of the profession.
  • Provide opportunity for the professional development of their employees.
  • Provide for mentoring and support of young people aspiring to work in and advance the profession of logging.
  • Refrain from maligning the work, reputation or business of another Atlantic Master Logger.
  • Support to the Atlantic Master Logger Certification Program by promoting the benefits of using an AML and to providing feedback or other support to the certification
         boards.
  • Demonstrate leadership that will further the recognition of the Atlantic Master Logger within the larger profession of qualified logging professionals within our industry.
  • Be accountable for meeting or exceeding minimum educational and regulatory compliance standards of the profession.
