Log-A-Load for Kids Canada: A Year of Milestones, Momentum, and Meaningful Impact

In 2025, the Canadian Woodlands Forum’s Log-a-Load for Kids Canada continued its proud tradition of rallying the forest industry and its communities in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Thanks to the generosity, teamwork, and dedication of countless volunteers, sponsors, and participants, this year’s fundraising efforts delivered significant contributions to the IWK Foundation and a dedicated donation to the Janeway Foundation totalling $74,935. Together, we advanced our shared commitment to helping ensure children and families receive the specialized care they need, when they need it most.

Celebrating 20 Years: Caledonia Softball Tournament Reaches New Heights

The 20th Annual Log-a-Load for Kids Softball Tournament, held August 16–17, 2025, in Harmony, Caledonia, marked a major milestone for this cherished community event. What began in 2005 as a local initiative has grown into a flagship fundraiser for the region, bringing together forest industry teams, local businesses, and community supporters for two decades of ball, camaraderie, and giving back.

This year’s anniversary tournament delivered record results, raising an outstanding $40,900, bringing the 20-year cumulative total to more than $414,000 in support of the IWK Children’s Hospital.

The weekend was filled with spirited competition, exceptional sportsmanship, and heartfelt community pride.

Congratulations to all division winners and to every team that took the field to make this year so memorable. A special acknowledgement goes to the North Queens Fire Department Fireballs, recognized once again as the tournament’s fundraising champions—a remarkable demonstration of leadership and dedication.

The longevity and success of this tournament reflect the strength of the North Queens community and the forest industry’s long-standing commitment to supporting children’s health. Thank you to the sponsors, volunteers, players, and families who have sustained this event year after year.

Throughout 2025, the Canadian Woodlands Forum’s Spring and Fall Meetings contributed an additional $12,035 through speaker gift donations and live and silent auction activities. These gatherings continue to strengthen the connection between the forestry sector and children’s health charities, and we are grateful for the generosity shown by attendees, partners, and contributors.

Continuing a Tradition of Caring

Across all events and initiatives, the collective efforts of the forestry community helped deliver another strong year of support for the IWK Foundation and the Janeway Foundation. Every dollar raised helps fund critical services, equipment, and programs that directly benefit children and families receiving care through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, participated, or championed these events throughout 2025. Your commitment ensures that Log-A-Load for Kids Canada continues to make a lasting impact—one that strengthens our communities and brings hope where it matters most.

We believe that each of our lives have been or will be touched by the tragedy of a child getting sick and needing the best possible care. This program allows us to help provide them with that care so they can grow up to live happy and productive lives.

Your generous donations always help support local Children’s Hospital Foundations 100% and help make a positive impact in the lives of our children who need it. Whether it’s a unique experience, a highly sought-after item, or a valuable service, we welcome any donations that you can contribute.

Ask yourself… “What have I done for Log A Load for Kids Canada lately?”

Log-A-Load For Kids Canada is a national giving campaign that facilitates donations from loggers and forest industry professionals to local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN)-affiliated hospital foundations. Participants can donate the value of a load of logs or raise funds through various events to support the cause.

The Canadian Woodlands Forum (CWF) takes pride in being the national coordinator for Log-A-Load For Kids Canada, ensuring that 100% of all contributions go directly to local CMN Canada hospital foundations. Overhead expenses are covered separately by sponsoring associations, the Children’s Miracle Network, and corporate and private underwriting, ensuring that the funds raised are maximized for the hospitals’ benefit.

Since its inception in 2000, Log-A-Load for Kids Canada has achieved remarkable success, raising over $1.7 million for different children’s hospitals across the country. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of numerous volunteers who organize a wide range of fundraising events, both large and small, contributing to the program’s success.

The children’s hospital foundations affiliated with the Children’s Miracle Network share a commitment to enhancing the lives of local children. The funds raised through Log-A-Load For Kids Canada play a crucial role in purchasing life-saving equipment and supporting groundbreaking medical research and essential services that do not receive assistance from the Provincial Ministry.

Log-A-Load For Kids Canada has a broad reach, benefiting children’s hospital foundations from St. John’s, Newfoundland, to Vancouver, British Columbia. The campaign encourages various creative fundraising events, such as sponsored golf tournaments, cookouts, log and equipment auctions, and raffles, which can be implemented in different communities across the country. Participants’ generosity is recognized through local media coverage and even at the national level, acknowledging their vital contributions. Annual fundraisers, including events like the Caledonia Ball Tournament and the Spring Meeting: Ritchie Brothers Live Auction bring people together in support of a great cause, fostering a sense of community and giving.

The CWF has been a supporter of Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations for over 20 years, consistently contributing to the well-being of children in need. Their continued dedication exemplifies the spirit of giving and compassion that makes Log-A-Load For Kids Canada such a successful and impactful program.
