Ensuring the forest industry’s future prosperity hinges on cultivating a robust reputation, crucial for attracting talented employees, new customers, and investment. Building the industry’s social license through sustained activism is pivotal for collective success, and the Canadian Woodlands Forum (CWF) plays a pivotal role in supporting this effort through delivery of focussed events and programs.

An excellent example is the “Forests Worth Knowing: Atlantic Teachers’ Tour,” now in its remarkable 23rd year. Held in Truro, NS during August, the four-day tour provided a platform for the forest industry to share its narrative with 34 participating teachers from across the Atlantic region. This hands-on program not only enhanced educators’ understanding of sustainable forest management but also delved into science and research applications, resource and management planning, technology, manufacturing processes of everyday products, and the multitude of career opportunities within the industry.

The overwhelmingly positive feedback received over the years attests to the tour being consistently described as one of the ‘best hands-on experiential learning opportunities of their career.’
